City Councilor Stipend
I pledge to donate 50% of my City Councilor stipend to the VFW. If I begin to earn over $70,000 per year from a job change (I currently earn minimum wage), I will donate the other half to a charity of the voters’ choice. (There will be a vote on this website.)
Honesty Policy
Listen, Bangor Resident: I am not here to fill you full of nonsense. The picture isn’t rosy, and I’m not going to lie about that, or anything else. Period. I have a criminal record, which is public information. I also have PTSD from combat experience in the Army. I have spent the past three years humbly working at the Gulf on Hammond Street, hoping a better opportunity will open up.
It’s going to take a lot of work, maybe a few years, and a lot “No” answers to get things done. I will answer for anything, any reasonable time, to any Bangor resident as City Councilor. If you have a question now, feel free to call or text the number at the top of the the page, or write me at [email protected].
Our Police
I’ve noticed that very few police officers take part in city council meetings, meanwhile they are expected to enact every ordinance the armchair socialists dream up. No more of that. I will befriend members of our police department, go on ride-alongs, and generally find the information we need to get to the root of our problems.
I have my own history with the Bangor Police Department. Through an overapplication of law, they are partly responsible for an incident that ultimately led to three (of seven) of my children now residing with extended family. They took the word of a known child abuser and drug addict, not my wife, and held onto it until the bitter end. I hold no grudges. In their shoes, with the information they had, I probably would have taken even more severe actions against me. Anyone that wants to hear the whole story from my perspective is free to call me at the number at the top of this page.
Police are often held accountable for situations that are far beyond their control.
The criminal element in Bangor operates with impunity because they know that the soft-handed judges and state policies will back them to no end. Transients and criminals that I can name operate organized theft rings, and the only remedy is prison.
Police, like soldiers, need the backing of the citizenry to feel they can effectively do their job. Lacking this, you get weak enforcement, and basically a lot of traffic tickets, DUIs, and little else. But we all know there’s a lot more than that going on in our city. Due to the left-wing lunatics in charge, we get rookie numbers.
Teachers
I spoke to a retired teacher named Ginger from the neighborhood this morning (3/24/2026). I asked her why she thinks teachers are not getting the results they once did. Schooldigger ranks Bangor Schools as #63 in the state. I believe we can do a little better than that, and I don’t think it involves huge pay raises. Teachers in Bangor already earn well above Janet Mills’ proposed $50,000 minimum teacher wage.
A good teacher is hard to replace, so we should not lose them just based on money. Once we have got a solid, manageable budget under our feet, I will propose that we offer property tax exemptions to teachers who live within the city limits. This will hopefully encourage our educators to settle here and buy homes.
Recently I spoke to a grandfather of a 11-year-old in Bangor schools. He told me she is an A student, but she “can hardly read.” The little girl teared up, but we both assured her that it’s not her fault. Too much of today’s education is focused on the wrong things, and parents with school-aged children know this best. I will consult parents before I consult anyone else about our educational policies and the direction of our education system.
I also think our best teachers should be recognized with bonuses and other incentive programs for delivering great results, rather than fixed pay raises and guaranteed promotions. With my partners on the Bangor School Board, we will work to develop policies that promote learning, rather than indoctrination, and build on proven methods instead of experimental, failing ideas such as “Common Core.”
Department of Public Works
Every resident of this city has some issue with the DPW. These hardworking men can only do so much, but we are left to wonder when we notice that the side of the street with all the apartments gets its sidewalk plowed, but the side with all the single family homes does not. It is hard not to read into it. Are we supposed to snowblow our own sidewalks, when the other side of the street does not have to?
Generally speaking, our streets are in disrepair. Certain parts of the city seem to experience severe neglect, while others are beautified and handled every single year. At time of writing, I do not know enough about how the Bangor Department of Public Works operates, but I promise you I will get inside of it. I will drive one of those snowblowers myself, if I have to.
One thing the County and the City do not engage in which I have seen in my life is work crews from the jail. Inmates are offered a set amount of time off their sentence in exchange for supervised work. I would, indeed, seek to institute some form of this for nonviolent, low-risk offenders. On the back end, it lowers the cost of housing them. On the front end, it gets things done which are not getting done due to a lack of manpower.
